A construction expertise being implemented for the Rail Baltic station at the Riga airport and associated infrastructure by Firma L4.
Following the tender procedure the Rail Baltica national implementing body in Latvia - Eiropas Dzelzceļa Līnijas has signed a contract with Firma L4 Ltd. for the implementation of expertise of the construction projects of Rail Baltica Station at Riga Internation Airport, its associated infrastructure and overpasses.
“Work starts on March 17 and will be done remotely. I am pleased that thanks to digital solutions and technological design innovations like BIM, important work can also be done at a time when the country is in a state of emergency,” says Kaspars Vingris, chairman of the Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas.
The engineering and consulting firm Firma L4 will have to conduct a professional design review of the Rail Baltica Railway Station at the Riga International Airport and its associated infrastructure and ramps by July 31, 2022, to assess the compliance of the technical design solution with the regulatory and technical requirements, as well as prepare an expert opinion.
Having received a construction design expertise report, it will be possible to confirm the compliance of publicly available and socially significant building construction designs with safe construction parameters, while the practical purpose of the expertise is to assist the client and designers in ensuring the quality of the building design.
Firma L4 is one of the leading engineering and consulting firms in Latvia with 25 years of experience in design, construction supervision and engineering consulting. According to the contract, the value of the contract for the carrying out of the examinations will not exceed EUR 348 000 excluding VAT. Expertise is co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) project "Construction of European standard gauge 1435 mm railway line along the Rail Baltica corridor through Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania".
The construction project for the Rail Baltica station, its associated infrastructure and the ramp, after winning an open international tender, was developed in March 2018 by the PROSIV Association of three countries (Sintagma (Italy), Prodex (Slovakia) and Vector T (Latvia)). At the same time, an international tender was launched in November, 2019 to find a construction company for building the Rail Baltica Station at the Riga International Airport, ramps, driveway, embankment, and an overpass for a six-kilometer long section of the track over K. Ulmanis street.
